I was able to get some hazelnut m&ms at the store but I haven’t had them in forever. I was able to get some at the store and was excited to try them out so I just put them in my list of things to make. I was able to make some m&ms with them but I didn’t have any to share yet. I am going to make some tomorrow and then I want to share them with you.
I am glad you asked! I am also excited you asked. The hazelnut mampms are made with hazelnut butter and hazelnut paste. The hazelnut butter is made from ground hazelnuts. The hazelnut paste is made from hazelnut oil. The nuts are soaked in water for a while then the hazelnut oil is poured into the pan. The nuts cook until they are soft and then the mixture is stirred in.
The hazelnut mampms are very tasty and a nice change of pace from the usual milk and chocolate mampms that I usually make. I love hazelnut butter and hazelnut paste, so I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.
I must admit that there is a difference between hazelnut butter and hazelnut paste. The hazelnut paste is thick and creamy and the hazelnut butter is very thin and just the right texture to use in a spread.
hazelnut butter is made by pressing the hazelnuts to a fine powder and then heating them with lemon juice. The paste is basically made by mixing hazelnuts with some butter and using the whole nut for the whole thing. But I think hazelnut paste is much easier to make.
I love hazelnut butter best. It’s a great topping for peanut butter and it’s a great base for spreadable oatmeal. For the maple syrup, I like making my own maple syrup so that it’s the same consistency and color as my real maple syrup, but I’ve never had a lot of success with that.
The real sweet life is maple syrup. I love the taste of it, but can get it so sweet that it makes me gag. I remember when I first learned to make my own, it took me six hours to get to the point where I could make it without burning my throat. I’ve tried making my own this year and only made about half. I hope I learn how to make it faster later this year.
The only way to make maple syrup faster is to burn it.
My maple syrup has a lot of sugar in it, but the taste is still sweet. I like that it’s not that sweet, and it’s a good way to get a little sugar into your diet. My favorite brand is still Blue Moon, but I’ve recently discovered that I prefer The Maple Sugar Company. I highly recommend the “Strawberry” flavor as well.
Blue Moon is a bit more expensive, but the maple products here are pretty good. The maple sugar at The Maple Sugar Company is a bit more expensive too, but they make it in a more convenient way. The maple syrup at Blue Moon is also a bit more expensive, but it’s also a better product.
